It has good hygroscopicity and can be used as a gelatin softening agent and water absorbing agent, cellophane and other paper treatment agents. It’s an important raw materials of organic chemicals and fine chemicals, it is basic material in the production of polyethane terephthalate (PBT) and PBT fiber plastic. It’s the main raw material to produce tetrahydrofuran (THF). Used as a gas chromatography fixative, as a solvent, non-toxic antifreeze, moisture absorbing and for organic synthesis.
